MY "NEW" BEST FRIEND
It isn't easy growing old
Alone and far away
From one's two children
So please let me say:
I'm proud as a peacock
Waiting 'round the bend
I found someone special
My new best friend.
He came to me as a gift
Sent from up above
God must have known I needed
Someone new to love;
He came with a book
I can't wait 'til the end
It's all about Him
My new best friend.
A new euphoric feeling
And a sense of calm
Hope and joy envelope me
As if a store-bought balm;
When the road is crooked
And seems to never bend
I reach for the scarred hand
Of my new best friend.
So pardon me for smiling
If it's a rainy day
I love to hear it falling
To watch it in the bay;
I even welcome thunder
And the wild wind
Knowing they were sent
By my new best friend.
I hope that I am worthy
Of this wonderful thing
And not take Him for granted
He makes me want to sing;
If I pray from my heart
He might stay 'til the end
For I promise to love
My new best friend.
