THERE'S THE DOOR
We were like three stooges
Like three peas in a pod
Went everywhere together
Oh, I was so proud:
That my best friend and you
Got along so very well
I couldn't see it coming
The storm straight from Hell.
For almost twenty months
While you and I made love
She was my closest friend
Sent from God above;
I told her everything
And trusted both of you
And now I know the truth
I don't know what to do.
I don't blame her completely
You know I miss her so
But when you had to choose
And you told her to go;
I felt dead inside of me
I felt so much alone
How could I be so stupid
Or should I have known?
I wonder if I can trust you?
When the phone rings
I go to pick it up
And nobody says a thing;
What we had is lost, babe
And I can't live this way
I can't make love to you
Another single day.
I have learned a lesson
Not to trust or believe
A lover or a girlfriend
They are just like thieves;
Robbing me of power
Control and self-respect
Don't look so surprised
What did you expect?
So you say it's not her
You want for your wife
Well, I am here to tell you
I'm out of your life;
I don't care what you do
I don't like you anymore
And though I'll always love you
There's the door........
