AT LEAST HE LEFT THE FRAME
She walked into the empty house
That they once called a home
She saw he'd taken everything
He had ever owned;
The end came so suddenly
He took all the blame
He also took their water bed
But at least he left the frame.
She should have seen it coming
When he stayed late at work
She barely recognized herself
So thin, so stressed, so hurt;
She walked all through the empty house
She still shared his name
Their wedding picture was now gone
But at least he left the frame.
Their bed and photograph are gone
But memories just hang around
Another year has come and gone
Snow's back on the ground;
A new mattress helps her sleep
She's deleted his last name
He took away her everything
But at least he left the frame.
Thank God, he left the frame.......
